‘Who does she think she is?’- Fans react to Angel Reese’s heated exchange with Sabrina Ionescu

Angel Reese and Sabrina Ionescu were at the centre of a heated moment during the Atlanta Dream’s 85-83 victory over the New York Liberty, and fans had plenty to say about it.
The incident came in the second quarter after Ionescu was called for an offensive foul while setting a screen on Atlanta’s Isobel Borlase. Reese ran towards Ionescu and appeared to confront her before Rhyne Howard stepped in.
It was another physical moment in a series that saw the Dream complete a 3-0 sweep and reach the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2013. Reese also led Atlanta with 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
The exchange quickly became a talking point among fans, with some enjoying Reese’s willingness to defend her teammate while others criticised how she handled the situation.
One fan wrote: “Lmao who does she think she is.” Another simply added: “This is what we love.”
There was also criticism of Ionescu’s role in the incident, with one supporter arguing: “Ionescu should have called for the moving screen, including the push.”
Another fan took aim at Reese’s behaviour: “See what I mean? She is always running her mouth.”
Some supporters, however, viewed the confrontation as exactly what a teammate should do.
“This is what you call reinforcement in the basketball world,” one fan wrote. Another added: “Angel Reese is so messy, though.”

The comparison to one of the NBA’s most notorious competitors also appeared: “Angel Reese is the Draymond Green of the W.”
One supporter who admitted they were not a Reese fan still backed her actions: “I am not an Angel Reese fan, but good for her. She is doing what any good teammate should do.”
Another fan summed up the scene with a lighter take: “Sabrina fouls the rookie and suddenly two grown women are arguing about it like a parking spot dispute.”
The Dream will now turn their attention to the WNBA Finals after eliminating the defending champions. Atlanta will face the Golden State Valkyries when the championship series begins on October 17.
