Golfers raise money for local veterans
Tournament proceeds go directly to veterans in need.
ORLEANS, Vt. (WCAX) - The 9th annual Olney Invitational Golf Tournament took place Saturday at the Orleans Country Club, raising money for the organization Olney Funds.
144 players took part in the tournament.
All of the money raised goes toward helping veterans pay their bills, according to Josh Olney, of Olney Funds.
“Whether it be heating fuel, car repair, rent, food, anything like that,” Olney said.
Olney said he is glad the money raised stays in the Northeast Kingdom to help veterans and their families.
“For me it’s nice to see the money stay locally in the NEK for vets and their families,” Olney said.
Organizers expect to raise more than $25,000 for veterans.
